Time is my enemy

When I have a day off to spend it doing the creative things I enjoy, time passes quickly. Too quickly. Those days are few and far between because of all of the hours I work. There is enough to do, I could work 80 hours a week and barely make a dent in answering all of my emails and addressing all of the insurance denials in my work queues. I  work 50 hours a week on a good week.

I think about how fun it will be to live a creative life after I retire, with no other responsibilities or obligations.

My blog update was supposed to be motivational in an organized way. The different categories make it easier for me to focus on just one subject per day. That’s all fine and good when you have time on your hands, but squeezing creativity into the  limited cracks of time between work and family can’t be as consistent as I would like.

Business Office (Factory)

Since I have a few minutes of winding down time before going to sleep, I will write a little about my work environment.

My office is one of eight in our hallway. There are two people per office, except our lead is in her own, by herself.

My “co-pilot” is awesome! She has long, curly, natural silver gray hair and is the same age as my brother, who is five years younger than I am. She has been working there for just over two years. She is funny and sarcastic. It feels like we have known each other forever. We get along great and spend a lot of time talking and laughing. It is good that she only works in the office two days a week, so we can both get some work done.

She is married and their children are grown. She lives several miles from the office on a chicken farm with over 300 chickens, a few dogs, and a couple of cats. She owns her own home bakery business. I buy my eggs and wheat bread from her. She sells amazing sweet and savory rolls, bagels, and specialty bread. She is kind and giving and doesn’t get her feathers ruffled easily. Things roll off her back with a little single shoulder shrug and an “Eh.” She is the opposite of a drama queen and has no fear when it comes to traveling to new places.

She and her husband are taking a long trip to Africa in a few months, and she is so excited…in spite of there being two cases of ebola in the area where they are visiting. Did I mention brave? No fear?

I want to be like her when I grow up, with enough time on my hands to enjoy long travel days. . .
